Nikki Dority – The Experience
We just completed the TEDxCCWomen weekend. At the outset, things felt as I would have
expected, barring the idiosyncratic days of Covid. We had our pre-speech “dinner,” got to meet
one another once again, and better understand the small details regarding our “day.”
Knowing that we would not be able to have our guests at the event struck hearts, but still all of the beautiful women in our group smiled on.
When I arrived at the theater at MSU, the wind was howling and the overall energy of the planet felt kinetic. My sweet husband had dropped me off so I could have one more kiss before I went He was the earth to my currently blowing sails. When I got inside, met by the TEDxCC crew, my nerves elevated a bit as I realized what was about to happen……only until I could find my bearings in the relative energy in the space.
Once we all found our spots in the dressing rooms, to ensure social distancing, the energy shifted. We went from women who were doing a Tedx talk back to women. Women who were about to put their heart, soul and love out into the world. Each woman I was with: Hillary, Maggie, Carrie, Mackenzie, Nga, Sarah and Joanna: each shared a passion, a love and a life’s work unto which they lived by.
We all had the blessing to stand on the TED Red carpet, standing in circle. Beautiful Christy held us in unity with her beautiful words and her loves, as we connected heart to heart. Then, slowly, each magical woman took her turn on stage.
And each woman spoke with magic, love and grace.
The messages and stories of all of the participants were profound. These women, each and every one of them, are doing their life’s work and serving their true missions and true selves.
I was blown away and yet had not felt more at home than I did in the energy of Saturday. I came away being reminded of who I am.
Perhaps not a reminder, but an exclamation point of who I am. I loved this experience, from the most authentic places deep in my heart. Thank you to the real, honest, raw, smart, inspirational women.
Thank you to our beautiful leaders, teachers, healers.
Thank you to Candice for being Candice.
And, thank you to all of the amazing production folks who captured the essence of these beautiful women.
I will never, ever forget one bit about this amazing experience.
